Throughout the semester, I have been actively participating in educational Twitter chats on my professional twitter account @Natalie_Slick96. By far my favorite chat was New Teachers to Twitter (#nt2t). Once a week, I would go on Twitter during the specified time for the chat and I would respond to the questions the chat's moderator asked. I also commented on other teachers' posts and was able to gain a lot of information from reading their posts. I learned all about how amazing Twitter is as a resource for teachers. It allows teacher to connect with educators all around the world and is a free way to find resources and ideas to incorporate into the classroom. Twitter chats allow teachers to continue their professional development from the comfort of their own home. The teachers I met through educational Twitter chats have recommended me to other chats and provided me with a plethora of people I can ask questions to about education. After this semester, I plan to continue attending professional Twitter chats at least every other week. These chats provide teachers with so many resources that it truly is worth sacrificing an hour each week to participate in them. The best part is that teachers can participate in these chats wherever they would like. I know one teacher participates in New Teachers to Twitter every week while she is exercising on her exercise bike. I have greatly increased my PLN thanks to these Twitter chats. There truly is a chat for everyone and for almost every subject. Since I found these chats so helpful and informative, I will continue to participate in them because they are extremely beneficial. More specifically, I will remain active in the chats New Teachers to Twitter, and Kinder Chat because they are the most pertinent to me and my future goals.
