During my time in the Grove City College Early Education Center, I had the opportunity to create a bulletin board that displayed student work for a bi-weekly theme of nursery rhymes. This required planning and collaboration between myself and my fellow pre-service teachers. We worked together to take photos of each student participating in nursery rhyme themed activities. We also worked together to get quotes from each student of them telling us about their favorite nursery rhyme. We then collected a few of the crafts they created and hung them up with the quotes and pictures. Finally, our bulletin board was tied into the Early Education standards to show what the students work and activities were working towards. All in all, this assignment showed me how displaying student work can elicit pride in students for what they accomplish. Students work very hard to complete tasks presented to them by the teacher. It is important as an educator to acknowledge their hard work by displaying it for the whole class to see.
