I used the tool Smore to create my newsletter for my virtual co-op. To do this, I picked out a template that Smore provided for me and then I filled in all the information my virtual co-op asked for me to include into this template. From there, I found pictures from her Twitter feed that week and uploaded them into the newsletter so that if parents read it, they could see the fruition of their children's work. I would instruct parents and students to use this tool as a way to find out what is happening in the classroom, as well as to find out about upcoming events/projects that will be due in the future. This tool fits into component 4C because Smore documents provide information to parents about what is happening in the classroom. Communication between teachers and parents is extremely important and through the use of Smore, teachers are able to provide parents easy access to this information. This also allows parents to be involved in the curriculum because they will be able to talk about and discuss with their children about what they learned that week. Overall, this entire project went extremely well for me. Smore is a very easy program to use, but if I could do anything differently it would be to ask for more information to put in the newsletter. During this project, I struggled to find things to include in this project, with more information I would have been able to make the newsletter more informative. This project ties into what I am learning in Foundations of Teaching because I am learning about curriculum and how to best teach it. Through this project, I now know of another tool I can use to better teach my curriculum and share it with parents. I can use this tool in my future classroom as a way to inform parents of what my students did each week and as a way to inform them of upcoming projects or events coming up in the week ahead.
