During my Special Education student teaching placement, the classroom followed a classroom behavior management program called "Owl'standing Behavior. Every day the children in this Autistic Support classroom started the day with their Popsicle stick on the color green, which meant they were ready to learn. If the students demonstrated exceptional behavior and remained on task, the students' sticks could move up on the chart. If they demonstrated behaviors that were unacceptable or not up to their potential, the students' sticks could get moved down. Each time their stick moved down, the student would receive a consequence. These consequences could be a phone call home or using their break time to make up missed work. The students in my class were extremely motivated by this system. We also gave students tickets to use in our classroom store. Depending on where their sticks landed at the end of the day, the students could get 2, 3, or 4 tickets. At the end of every two weeks, the students cashed these tickets in for prizes they could buy in our classroom store. The students loved this system and helped keep students accountable for how they acted and performed each day.
