This component of Domain 2 is about how teachers need to set expectations for student behavior so that they can monitor it and respond appropriately when a student does misbehave. This component is about creating and monitoring student behavior effectively. It is imperative that students know a teacher's expectations and what is expected of them in the classroom. This component is important because, in order to have a classroom run smoothly, students need to be engaged in the content they are learning, as well as know the expectations and standards of work required of them. This way students feel valued, respected, and cared for even when they make mistakes or act out.
