Pinterest is an online resource for teachers to use to find and share lesson plan ideas, classroom resources, and teaching tricks/tips. To create an account all teachers have to do is sign up with an email address. From there, teachers can customize their profile and add a short biography. After that, teachers can create boards of their own. Boards are where teachers pin ideas or resources they find on the website to help keep everything they find in one organized place. Teachers can also follow specific boards or fellow pinners. I created three professional boards. They are called Resources for Content, Resources for Students, and Resources for Pedagogy. I also became a co-member of our class board called EDU 204 TOI. I created these three boards in order to organize all the resources I found into these distinct categories. As a teacher, I feel these three categories cover just about everything I will need, so if I need a resource for a student, I will just have to go to my Resources for Students board to find some ideas. This fits into this component because Pinterest allows teachers to explore different kinds of resources all in one place. By doing this, teachers build their knowledge of useful tools they can use to help their students learn better. Each board I created ties into an element of component 1D. All the things I pin to each board will coincide with the element the board is named after. This project went really well overall. Pinterest is an easy tool and I found it to be really fun to explore. If I could do anything differently, I would make a few more boards for classroom bulletin board ideas or maybe make specific boards for activities that go with a specific subject I will be teaching. The learning from this project ties into what I am learning in Educational Psychology because we are learning about different theorists that help teachers to effectively teach their students. Pinterest provides the tools teachers can use to implement these theorists into their classroom. I can use this tool in my future classroom to help me to come up with creative, interactive activities to tie into some of the lessons I will be teaching.
